Les Gets Village

Les Gets is a typical savoy village in the Portes du Soleil

Les Gets is part of the massive Portes du Soleil ski area about an hour away from Geneva. In the summer it is a lively destination for walkers, climbers and mountain bikers but it is best known for being a small and friendly ski resort. Either side of Les Gets are ski slopes and Chalet Chardon is located just up from the main lifts. The lift systems are efficient and a closed bubble lift operates to take skiers up and down from the central beginners section. The main six man chairlift quickly transports skiers and boarders to the top of the mountain where you can choose to head off in several directions.

The village has many restaurants and several bars. The apres-ski isn’t as lively as some of the bigger resorts which may be why the atmosphere suits families and people after a cosy and quiet holiday. There are two supermarkets in the village and free buses operate during the day so if you don’t fancy the ten minute walk back to the chalet you can always hop on the bus (Ligne B). There are several mountain cafes and restaurants – halfway up the main slopes where the bubble lift stops are three or four restaurants and several more can be found as you ski around the mountains.  The following photo is taken from inside La Grande Ourse on Mont Chery.  A really fantastic view over Les Gets and the surrounding mountain range as you eat a fantastic meal.  Booking recommended!
