Ditch the queues at the ski rental shops – have the equipment come to you! A growing trend is the idea of the mobile ski rental shop. In Les Gets we use Ski Mobile who will come to Chalet Chardon with your equipment and fit it for you. No queues or messing around trying to find the ski rental shop. If you just want to hop onto your skis or board and get going as quickly as possible, this is the way to do it. They offer a personal service and high quality equipment from Scott, Rossignol, Salomon, K2 and Dynastar for beginners to experts. These guys operate 7 days a week, from 7:30 in the morning to 10:30 at night!! So even if you arrive late, you can get your gear sorted that evening. If you need the odd pair of socks, a pair of goggles, lip-balm – they sell this stuff too. Once you are on the slopes, if you have any problems you can call them up and they’ll come back to the chalet to sort you out. When your holiday has finished they’ll come and collect all the gear from the chalet. No more end of holiday lugging-all-the-gear-back-to-the-shop (usually dad’s job)!! Hooray!
If you still want to go into a regular shop then you can order your gear online, before you arrive in Les Gets. We used the website www.skimium.com for years before we went for the mobile option (above). You first choose the shop you want to pick your stuff up from (we used Planete Glisse – it’s really close to the main lift), then you pick your dates, then the skis and gear that you want, giving your shoe-size, height, weight etc. You pay the deposit and when you arrive in Les Gets the shop will do the rest – just turn up with your booking confirmation and they’ll fit your boots.
You do have the option of storing your skis and boots in the shop at the end of every day, but since Chalet Chardon is ski in/ski out, you may as well take advantage of that 🙂
